Former model and Miss Bumbum contestant Debora Dantas, had been battling with depression for years before she decided to take her life by throwing herself out of a fourth floor window.

Dantas, who is only 20 years old, was allegedly on a mix of alcohol and antidepressants when she attempted suicide, and although she survived the fall, she is now paralyzed from the waist down.

The Sun reported the tragic incident and said the former model remains hopeful. “For me and God, what’s impossible is only a matter of opinion,” she said in a video shot from her hospital bed.

“Keep on praying for me, because I’m very happy with everything you’ve done for me so far,” she said. “I’m making this video to say thank you to my loved ones for their help, to everyone who’s come to visit me and are prepared to be here with me.”

Also according to The Sun, a friend of Dantes attested she had been drinking heavily before attempting to take her life. “She was always drinking a lot and taking lots of medication. She was depressed all the time and had emotional problems,” her friend said. “She used to say her life was empty and made no sense.”

Miss Bumbum contestants have constantly been at the center of controversy. Recently, contest winner Suzy Cortez, who is a huge FC Barcelona (and Messi) fan, posted a racy photo on social media showing her assets off with a bare bottom, while wearing a number 10 Barcelona jersey with Messi’s name on it. This one went too far for Antonella Roccuzzo, Messi’s longtime partner, who forced the soccer superstar to block her.

According to The New York Post, when Cortez noticed she had been blocked, she was extremely surprised at Roccuzzo’s lack of confidence. “I was completely shocked when I spotted it. If I could, I would tell her not to be worried about me, I’m just a fan. I’m surprised that she isn’t more sure of herself,” Cortez said.
