Word on the street is that Cuba will join the Miss Universe beauty pageant after nearly five decades.

Many news outlets, such as Marti Noticias, have revealed that 25 year old Jamillette Gaxiola will represent the Caribbean island at the beauty pageant competition. If so, this will be the first time in 48 years that Cuba participates in Miss Universe. From 1952 to 1967, Cuba sent their most beautiful women to participate in Miss Universe. Since 1968, the country stopped competing because of the financial crisis and political issues in Havana.

Miss Universe and the alleged Cuban contestant have yet to confirm the news. With that said, we did not hesitate to find out more about the beautiful señorita Gaxiola. Here are some interesting facts you should know about Miss Universe Cuba.

1) Jamillette Gaxiola was born in Mazatlan, Mexico to Cuban and Mexican parents.

2) She's been residing in Las Vegas since she was 12 years old.

3) She began competing in beauty pageants at an early age and has won many titles including Miss Cuba Earth 2009 and Miss Grand Cuba 2013.

4) She also held second place in the Senorita Republica Deportiva competition on Univision.

5) She's a professional model, nabbing many magazine covers.

6) She's also an actress and formed part of the 2012 TV series "The Shores."

7) She loves to practice kickboxing.

8) She considers herself to be down to earth.

9) Gaxiola forms part of the UFC family as an Octagon Girl.

10) Needless to say, she gained recognition on season's one and two of "The Ultimate Fighter Latin America."
