A Brazilian model, who has previously won a lawsuit against rapper Chris Brown, had to undergo a potentially life-saving procedure last week following a botched cosmetic facial procedure in 2019.

Liziane Gutierrez, 35, needed emergency surgery costing around $10,000 to avoid potential death after the filler she had injected in her cheeks and lips two years ago caused a flare-up and grotesque swelling to her face and blood poisoning.

TMZ reported that Dr. Laertes Thomaz had to manually scoop out the filler from her face, putting the $3,000 worth of Botox and lip filler procedures to waste. Gutierrez had previously complained that she felt like her face was going to explode and was coming in and out of the doctor's clinic multiple times due to issues with her surgery.

Her Las Vegas doctor then moved to express concerns she might have been injected with silicone or another dangerous substance during her operation in Brazil. Gutierrez was later diagnosed with a bacterial skin infection.

However, months after that, the woman barely survived slipping into a coma after another procedure, this time liposuction, went awry. She was placed in an induced coma by doctors in Istanbul, Turkey, following a severe reaction to anesthesia.

According to her family, the plastic surgery was unnecessary but Gutierrez still insisted on having the operation despite their objections. She would secretly fly to Turkey against her doctor's orders for the operation, which caused grave repercussions to her health.

"Liziane is in Turkey, but not even the family knew that she had traveled there for aesthetic purposes,” a family member, who didn’t wish to be identified, told the media. "She had already expressed the intention to do liposuction, but since there was almost no fat, no doctor wanted to perform this surgery."

In 2017, the woman won a civil lawsuit against Brown after he attacked her in a Las Vegas hotel room. It was later found that the musician caught her sneaking to take his photo at the bash at the Palms Hotel and Casino on December 31, 2015, but that he acted excessively to her offense, according to the Sun.
