Anthony Davis could have been a factor for the Los Angeles Lakers who are trying to salvage what is left this 2021-22 NBA season. Unfortunately, that is out of his hands and all the All-Star center can do right now is wait.

The eight-time All-Star knows that if not this season, he may only have next year as the time to possibly win another NBA title. It may also be the last year he may get to play with the four-time champion.

“We don’t know how long he has left in this league,” Davis said in a report from ESPN.

“Phenomenal player, future Hall of Famer, and to be able to play alongside him, you want to take advantage of it. We did the first year. Last year we both were banged up, and then this year, it’s [injuries] again but more so me. So every day it’s closing. That’s another frustrating part. A lot of guys don’t get to play with talent like that. I have the opportunity to do so … I want to take advantage of that time,” the Lakers star continued.

James has one year left in his deal with the Lakers although there is no telling what is going on in his mind right now. If he continues to stay in Hollywood, Davis needs to make sure that he is ready and take care of his body better and possibly win another NBA title.

But right now, it seems apparent that even if he returns, Davis won’t be at 100%. He would be a welcome addition but the risk that comes with his current condition could factor in his NBA career moving forward.

“I’m trying to get back on the court as soon as possible. As far as a number or something, I would love to say 100 but with only a certain amount of games yet, not 100% sure,” Davis said.

AD is signed with the Lakers until 2024-25. He is being groomed as the next face of the franchise. But with the debacle the Lakers are experiencing right now, all that may be up in the air unless the purple and gold can get something going.
