The Chilean team partake in one last training session before their final Group B match against Holland. Reuters

Despite Chile and Netherlands already having booked a spot in the knockout rounds, the final Group B game between the two nations will be one in which both teams will desperately be looking for a win. The reason for this being that the runner-up in the group will more than likely have to play Brazil in the Round of 16.

Coming into the match Chile’s Arturo Vidal and Charles Aranguiz all have yellow cards. All three of these players are vital to their team’s success so it will be interesting to see how their respective coaches handle their playing time. Another yellow for anyone of them will see them suspended for their first knockout round game.

Expect this to be a very attack minded game as both teams have shown their offensive tenacity in their first two games. Holland love to play to their strengths of getting the ball to Arjen Robben as he can change a game on his own at any point in time. Chile’s strengths on the other hand lie on the wings. Alexis Sanchez has had a great tournament thus far and will surely cause the Dutch defense problems going forward.

Look for this game to be very open and offer chances for both teams. Since they don’t have to worry about goal differential anymore, both sides can afford to push men forward. It must be said that both teams are deadliest when given the space to counter, and it was displayed when they went up against the possession based game of Spain. It will surely be a very open ended game where both sides will have the opportunity to push men up the pitch. Everything will come down to who takes their chances better. It is really hard to say who will be the winner after ninety minutes since the two teams are so evenly matched.

Chile will have the massive home crowd behind them, as they have had in their two previous games, but the class of the Dutch squad should never be overlooked.

My prediction: A hard fought match by both sides produces lots of offense, but the game ends in a 2-2 tie. Netherlands finishes first in the group by goal differential.
