New York Fashion Week 'The Shows' Will Present For First Time A Plus-Size Women’s Fashion Brand

One of the fastest growing fashion retailers in the U.S, will be the first plus-size women’s fashion brand to present at NYFW: The Shows this September. The runway event, which will take place on Tuesday, September 12, joins a roster of over 70 shows taking place during the Spring/Summer 2018 collections, and heralds a bold new move towards increased diversity and inclusiveness in the fashion industry.  

The Torrid runway show will also serve as a showcase for the brand’s third annual Model Search competition, serving as the semi-final competitive round for the top 10 finalists. Selected by a panel of judges comprised of influencers and celebrities including designer and Project Runway winner Ashley Nell Tipton, celebrity makeup artist Pricilla Ono, and supermodel Candice Huffine, these finalists will walk the runway before going on to a third and final round of competition, where the winner is chosen by Torrid friends and fans.

On the runway, Torrid plans to unveil a preview of its Spring 2018 collection, featuring 40 looks representing key trends for the upcoming season: edgy rock n’ roll, romantic boho, and elevated details including hand embroidery and painted elements. NYX Professional Makeup, a leader in the global color cosmetics industry, will finish off each look with their line of on-trend products as the official makeup sponsor.
