‘Orange Is The New Black’ Season 7 Release Date And Possible Spinoff

Season 7 of Netflix’s “Orange Is The New Black” marks the end of an era after the announcement in late 2018 that it is to be the last season. Emotions of the cast spilled after they finished filming for their last season, taking to Instagram to show their sadness for the show’s end.

“Just me as an actor getting ready to say goodbye to a role that I’ve lived with for six years,” shared Taylor Schilling — who plays the lead role of Piper Chapman in the Netflix series — in an interview with Hollywood Reporter. “It certainly is an end of an era,” she added.

The Piper Chapman actress is set to return for Season 7 of Jenji Kohan’s Emmy-winning series, and it is set to follow her life in the outside world after she has been released in the Season 6 finale. Laura Prepon, Uzo Aduba, Danielle Brooks, Laura Gomez, Adrienne C. Moore, Natasha Lyonne, Dale Soules, Kate Mulgrew and Dascha Polanco are all likely to reprise their roles for the final season, per reports.

Netflix — via it’s See What’s Next Twitter account — has announced July 23 as the release date for “Orange Is The New Black” Season 7. The seventh installment may be the last for the show, but fans still have hope as rumors show that this does not seem to be the end for the franchise.

Less than a month after the announcement of the cancelation, it had also been made known that talks of an “Orange Is The New Black” spinoff or sequel will be made.

“We’re really proud of the long run that Orange Is The New Black had,” said Kevin Beggs, Lionsgate TV Group Chairman. “It remains one of Netflix’s most-watched shows. We’re ending on a high note,” he continued.

“Keep in mind we own that series and will be distributing it for years to come,” mentioned Beggs. “We’re already in discussions and, when the timing is right, we’ll talk further with Jenji about a potential sequel.”

For now, the story is yet to end for the ladies of Litchfield. “Orange Is The New Black” Season 7 will be available on Netflix on July 23, 2019.
