Today during a live stream presentation Atlus announced that "Persona 5" will launch in Japan on Sept. 15 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. It is unclear if the release date applies globally but we can assume it'll hit Japan first then spread to other regions.

"Persona 5's" release date is just a few days ahead of the franchise's 20th anniversary. The original "Persona" title released on the PlayStation console Sept. 20, 1996 and to celebrate the anniversary Atlus will release a special anniversary soundtrack collection in Japan, reports IGN.

Along with the release date announcement comes a brand-new trailer that gives gamers the best look at the title. The nearly five-minute video features a mix of gameplay footage and animated vignettes. We also see a huge variety of spaces to explore such as downtown Tokyo and even a futuristic space station. There is even a man who looks like an insect in a suit.

The new trailer confirmed the release date in addition to revealing new party members and gameplay. You can check out the action-packed video below:

Meanwhile, Atlus also revealed a 20th anniversary-themed Collector's Edition for "Persona 5" in Japan. Included in this edition is an art book, a soundtrack with songs from previous "Persona" games and series-inspired DLC. The DLC will include outfits from both "Persona 3" and "Persona 4." The collection is priced at 13,800 yen (about $128).

Additionally Atlus announced that the previously revealed "Persona 5" anime will premiere in Japan in September. Whats more is that gamers will see more gameplay footage at E3 since Atlus is bringing the title to the expo.

"Persona 5" was originally revealed for PS3 back in 2013 with a Winter 2014 launch window. It was later announced for the PS4 and confirmed to be headed to the west. Then at last year's TGS the game was delayed until 2016 and now we've finally got an official launch.

Again, "Persona 5" will be a PlayStation exclusive title and release for the PS3 and PS4.
