Unless you've been living under a rock then you probably heard the big news from The Pokémon Company in Japan. The company revealed a new Pokémon title but its completely different from anything you've seen before. The fighting game titled "Pokkén Tournament" is essentially a "Tekken" fighter only with your favorite Pokémon as the contenders. This title also marks a new partnership between The Pokémon Company and Namco Bandai.

Yesterday during the special stream of "Monthly Famitsu feat." the new game was unveiled by The Pokémon Company president, Tsunekazu Ishihara who also revealed that the the title will be developed by both "Tekken" and "Soul Caliber" producers. Along with the announcement was the first gameplay footage featuring Lucario and Machamp dueling it out. Check out the video below.

For those wondering when they can get their hands on "Pokkén Tournament" the answer isn't that easy. At the end of the gameplay trailer you'll notice that the title will first come to Japan as an arcade game in 2015. The trailer ends with no mention of any console release at all. However, in answering questions it was implied that there may be a non-arcade release later. The question then becomes which console will we see it on?

While Namco Bandai brings games like "Soul Caliber" and "Naruto" fighting games to all platforms from Wii, Xbox, PlayStation to PC The Pokémon Company usually caters to Nintendo. Many have suggested that Nintendo's Wii U console will most likely see "Pokkén Tournament" title first with other consoles to follow. It doesn't sound too far off as many popular fighting titles started off as a Japanese arcade game. Just look at "Street Fighter" and "Tekken," both started as arcade fighters before being ported to home consoles.

Meanwhile Serebii reports the games producer Katsuhiro Harada confirmed via Twitter that not all Pokémon in "Pokkén Tournament" will be fighting-type 'mon. This definitely opens up the game to a huge roster of fighters. Who do you think will make the cut?
