Ferrets on steroids are being sold as toy Poodles and people are buying them!

A local report from Buenos Aires reported a man brought his newly purchased "toy poodles" to the veterinarian only to discover it was a giant ferret.

The steroid enhanced ferrets were purchased at Argentina's popular "La Salda" market and are now being called "Brazilian rats." This occurrence was once believed to be an urban legend, but it is now confirmed that over-sized ferrets are sold at puppies in markets.

The owner of the "poodles" paid $150 per ferret, and he is not the first victim to come forward. Another woman told the Buenos Aires station that she was tricked into buying what she thought was a Chihuahua, but that was also a ferret!

The Daily Mail has been so kind as to provide pet parents with a checklist to ensure that your cuddly dog isn't, in fact, a giant weasel.

- Ferrets typically have brown, white or mixed fur and are around 51 cm in length-which includes a 13 cm tail.

- They weigh around three pounds and have a lifespan of 7 to 10 years.

- When happy, ferrets may perform a routine known as the weasel war dance-which is characterized by a series of hops and frenzied attempts to bump into things.

- This is often accompanied by a soft clucking noise called dooking. When upset ferrets make a hissing noise.

- Toy poodles are known for their intelligence and are around 25 cm tall and weigh around nine pounds.

- If a toy poodle exceeds 25 cm height, it cannot compete in any dog show as a toy poodle.

- Toy poodles have long lifespans and have been known to live as long as 20 years.

- Toy poodles are described as sweet, cheerful and perky and lively and love to be around people.

Be sure to check the list before making your next pooch purchase!
