Prince William and Kate Middleton are often pegged the IT royal couple. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are currently on their first-ever tour to Pakistan. The tour, which kickstarted on Oct. 14, ended on Friday. The couple made headlines as they attended a special reception hosted by the British High Commissioner to Pakistan, where they donned green outfits.

Kate looked resplendent in a shimmery emerald Jenny Packham gown, while Prince William looked dapper in a sherwani buttoned coat by Karachi-based designer Naushemian. The duke was in complete awe of the hospitality and spoke of how he and Kate truly relished the authentic delicacies of the region on their arrival. The tour entailed visiting the school kids and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The royal couple has clearly charmed delegates and fans world over during their tours. But going by popular reports, there’s one tour of the couple that didn’t sit well not with the people but with Prince Charles. During their visit to Canada back in 2011, Charles had a couple of concerns — the royal couple was hogging too much limelight, invariably taking the spotlight away from the serious aspect of the tour.

Much to the Prince of Wales’ dismay, the 11-day tour was labeled as the “William and Kate show.” Several reports in the past attribute Charles’ concerns to multiple reasons — some stemming from the insecurity of being overshadowed by William and Kate’s massive popularity.

“Charles felt overshadowed by Diana and now it seems he feels overshadowed by their son,” royal author Philip Dampier said in a report. “Some people may think he is jealous. I have always felt that as soon as William got married, Charles would feel side-lined. When Charles and Camilla visited Canada two years ago, they were greeted by relatively small crowds. They are in their 60s and are not what you would call glamorous.”

Charles is knowledgeable and adept at the happenings on the environmental front. But he’s yet to amass the mammoth popularity that William and Kate currently enjoy.

There have been speculations about Charles contemplating for a makeover to attract larger crowds during his tours. Queen Elizabeth’s Irish tour too garnered immense popularity, which also fueled his insecurities.
