Charles, the Prince of Wales, as Queen Elizabeth II’s eldest son, is the heir apparent to the British throne. His eldest son, Prince William, has been widely expected to succeed the throne after his father. However, recent allegations have contested this idea. An expert has claimed that Prince William should be the first in line to the throne instead of Prince Charles.

Royal ancestry expert Matt Baker has claimed that according to bloodline, Prince William is “more royal” than Prince Charles. This theory stems from William’s mother Princess Diana’s “rich” bloodline, who based on her ancestry is a double descendant of Charles II and James II. This makes the Spencer blood more royal than that of Charles.’

“She has more English royal blood in her veins than does Prince Charles, her 16th cousin once removed,” said the expert. As are the ways of royal family trees, Charles and Diana are distantly related, having descended from Henry VII.

Although Diana’s ancestors can be traced back to Charles II and James II, the bloodline is actually from illegitimate children and extramarital affairs. Baker explains that Charles II (1630–1685) “dallied” with three mistresses, and these romps had produced “more than a quarter of the 26 dukedoms in Great Britain and Ireland.”

“All of it flowing from illegitimate unions. Four of her ancestors were mistresses to English Kings,” Baker explained about the theory.

Currently, both father and son are preparing for their future roles as king and crown prince. The two have been reported to attend Duchy meetings as preparation for their future titles. The Duke of Cambridge has already attended three meetings for 2019, which is already the total of what he had attended last year.

In April 2018, Charles succeeded Queen Elizabeth II as Head of The Commonwealth. When Prince Charles becomes king, Prince William will inherit the title of Prince of Wales, as well as the almost £1 billion “Duchy of Cornwall” estate that is currently under his father’s name.
