Prince William's Journey From First-Time Parent to Father of Three

From being a fearful first-time parent with Prince George’s birth, how is the Duke of Cambridge now handling family life as a father of three?

The Cambridge family recently took on a sporty family affair at the King’s Cup regatta on August 8 as Prince William and Kate Middleton’s teams raced against each other.

As their parents raced for the trophy, Prince George showed his toothless mouth to the crowd. Funnily, cheeky Princess Charlotte stuck her tongue out to the crowd when her Middleton asked her to give a wave.

Years after Prince William admitted to having fears during the time of Prince George’s birth, it appears that the Cambridge parents are now getting the hang of parenthood.

During the Duke’s first interview with CNN royal correspondent Max Foster after Prince George was born in 2013, he shared feelings of being daunted and terrified about the parent tasks he was about to do for the first time.

Prince William also declared his commitment to be a hands-on father and shared the story of changing baby George’s first nappy as a head start.

He also practiced securing his son’s car seat before doing it in front of national television as the public saw a glimpse of newborn George on the way out of the hospital.

“I had to practice, I really did. I was terrified that I was going to do some, you know, it was going to fall off or it wasn’t going to close properly. So, I had actually practiced with that seat, but only once before,” he said.

Unlike his brother Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s moves with the birth of their newborn, Prince Harry and Kate Middleton did not shy away from showing off their son to the world.

“I think more shock and dauntingness was the feeling I felt. I was on such a high anyway, and so was Catherine about George that really we were happy to show him off to whoever wanted to see him,” said the Duke.

“As any new parent knows, you’re only too happy to show off your new child and, you know, proclaim that he is the best looking or the best everything.”

During Princess Charlotte’s birth, Prince William appeared to be more composed and assured compare to Middleton.

The Duchess of Cambridge worried that newborn Charlotte would get cold as the public saw her for the first time and Prince William reassured her that the baby girl was fine, The Daily Telegraph reported.

The Cambridge couple had kept most of their children’s lives as private and normal as possible through sending their children to school instead of being educated at home like most royals. They also once lived in a country mansion in Anmer Hall to lead a more peaceful country life.

They had also gone as far as keeping it unknown to Prince George that he is going to be King someday as third-in-line to the throne.

Despite this, the public has had many glimpses of their children especially when they started taking their children to international royal tours that began when Prince George was just nine months old.
