Prince William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge on Monday, April 4, are reported to be planning to move closer to Queen Elizabeth II in what many speculate is to ensure the physical and mental health of the ailing monarch, as well as to minimize the influence of Prince Andrew on the crown.

As the Queen makes Windsor Castle in Berkshire her main residence instead of Buckingham Palace, reports have come out that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be moving to a nearby estate in the summer so that they can be closer to where Queen Elizabeth is, according to Marie Claire.

The royal couple, who has been staying in Kensington Hall in London as well as Anmer Hall in Norfolk, is also reportedly looking for local schools where Prince George and Princess Charlotte can attend as they stay near Windsor Castle.

The rumors of the move, which have been floating around since February, would largely be so that the Queen would not be alone as she copes with the death of her husband Prince Philip, and continues her recovery from COVID-19.

“I think there are a number of reasons why they would want to make such a move, and absolutely proximity to the Queen is one of them,” Jonathan Sacerdoti, a royal expert, said.

Another reason being floated around for the possible move would be ensuring that Prince Andrew’s influence on the monarch would be minimal, as many in the royal family reportedly believe that the Queen is spending too much time with him, Cosmopolitan reported.

Andrew, who is a known associate of financier Jeffrey Epstein, recently reached an out-of-court settlement with Virginia Giuffre for the sexual assault suit that she filed against him. The settlement’s amount, while kept under wraps, is reportedly worth over eight-figures.

“There is not a man, woman or child who would not say he had every right to be at Philip’s thanksgiving. But the family have been adamant there’s no way back. There are real fears that despite being banished from The Firm in January, he is using his closeness to the Queen as a springboard back into public life,” a source close to the royals said.
