“Downton Abbey” is a popular TV series that has millions of fans, and one of them is Queen Elizabeth II. The monarch loves watching many popular British shows, and the one created by Julian Fellowes is apparently one of her favorites.

The Queen has many royal responsibilities, but even she takes some time off to enjoy watching TV shows. According to Express, the monarch loves period dramas and is a fan of “Downton Abbey.”

The British TV series is set in the early 20th century, and looks at the lives of the rich Crawley family in their estate and palatial house. The show also explores the lives of the servants who live in the lower floors of the same house.

While the Queen certainly enjoys watching the period drama, she also notes some of the inaccuracies featured in it. The 93-year-old monarch has lived though moist of the 20th century, and she may be keenly aware of what life was like for the British aristocracy back then.

The filming of the house in “Downton Abbey” was done in Highclere Castle. The Queen is reportedly familiar with the estate, and she likes to point out the inaccuracies on the show when she sees them.

“Downton Abbey” aired 6 seasons between 2011 and 2016. The popularity of the show led to a movie with the same cast that was released on Sept. 20.

According to The New York Times the movie is a continuation of the TV series, and it is set in 1927. The main plot of the film revolves around the King and the Queen coming to the estate to stay for a while, and that leads to some tension among the family members and the servants.

It is not clear if the Queen has watched the movie. A royal source has confirmed that Prince Edward and his wife used to join the monarch every weekend to watch the “Downton Abbey” TV series.
