QUERETARO, Mexico – Queretaro rose from the mat on Sunday as they rallied from five goals down at Estadio Corregidora in the second leg of the 2015 Liga MX Clausura final. Los Albiazules scored three first half goals, but the comeback fell short as they won the match 3-0, but lost the Mexican championship 5-3 on aggregate.

Mario Osuna converted a penalty in the 10th minute and Queretaro got the early goal they needed to put pressure on Santos Laguna as they tried to climb back up the mountain that was the five-goal deficit.

In a surprise move with offense needed, Ronaldinho did not start and stayed on the bench where he has spent the better part of the last few matches before entering in the second half.

Santos suffered a devastating setback in the 13th minute after Djaniny was carted off the field with a serious leg injury. Djaniny was arguably more vital in the first leg than Chuletita was. Djaniny had three assists in the match, assisting on three of Javir Orozco's four goals.

Queretaro continued to put pressure on Santos when defender Yasser Corona's header found the back of the net. The set piece score made it 2-0 Queretaro, just three goals short of tying Santos on aggregate.

Angel Sepúlveda struck again for Los Gallos Blancos in the 38th minute. Sepúlveda made a great run down the left side of the box and slipped it just past Santos goalkeeper Augusín Marchesín into the far right corner of the net.

Javier "Chuletita" Orozco, the hero of the first leg, was substituted at the end of the first half with an injury. Chuletita was still the man of the match for the Clausura final as his four goals in game one, were more than Queretaro's entire team scored in both matches.

Queretaro went into the half with a 3-0 lead and lowered their deficit to just two goals necessary to force extra time and have a chance to lift the Liga MX Clausura trophy.

Santos clamped down defensively in the second half and Queretaro countered by substituting Ronaldinho into the game in the 60th minute. The Brazilian instantly picked up the pace of the game, but it was not enough as both teams went scoreless in the second half.

"It's been a difficult six months," Santos Laguna defender Carlos Izquierdoz said. "But we made the final today and finished first and are the champions."

Los Albiazules dominated the second leg of the Clausura final possessing the ball more than 70 percent of the game, attempting nearly twice as many shots than Santos, and controlling the battle of corner kicks 7-to-3. Despite making the final 45 minutes exciting and filled with tension, Queretaro fell short in their first ever appearance in the final, and will look to build from this campaign in the second half Apertura season.

Ronaldinho more than likely has played his final game with Queretaro and likely in the Mexican Primera league. Ronaldinho's time with the Mexican club was controversial and finishes with his relegation to a role on the bench in the final month of the season. He will more than likely force a move out of Mexico and into the MLS during the summer transfer window.
