Romeo Santos was off to a great week after being named CEO of "Roc Nation Latin," the new division of& Jay Z's entertainment company "Roc Nation."

The "Eres Mia" singer announced his new venture as chief executive officer Wednesday afternoon after meeting with renowned rapper and business mogul Jay Z to sign the paperwork. Santos' longtime manager, Johnny Marines, has been named president of the new division.

"This is the time. I’m super hungry, I know what it takes to build a brand," said Romeo in an exclusive interview with Billboard. "I’ve gotten this far not just because of my music but because I know what to do and what not to do. I’m really excited about giving back. This is my way of giving back."

Santos, who has always idolized Jay Z because of the way he carried himself, told the publication that he received the same proposal four years ago but rejected the position due to his busy schedule.

"For them to show interest in managing me, that was pretty appealing. It’s just that when they reached out about four years ago, I had a lot going on," he told Billboard. "I’m not superstitious, but I think the time is now. When they came to us with the whole CEO proposal I said, 'This is a win-win situation.'"

Roc Nation Latin, according to an official press release, will act as a full service entertainment division of Roc Nation focused on developing and cultivating Latin talent while providing marketing, endorsement deals, philanthropic support, media relations and brand strategy, expanding into both national and international markets.

"I have a few. They’re not known because I’m more concentrated on bringing new blood," said Santos to Billboard about a couple of up-and-coming artists he has his eyes on.

Roc Nation, founded in 2008, is a full-service entertainment company and is home to renowned recording artists, writers and producers including Rihanna, Shakira, J. Cole, and more.
