On Feb. 24, disgraced Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein was convicted on two accounts of sexual assault and rape. Even though he was acquitted of most of the serious charges against him, those who had accused him have received some measure of justice more than two years after the #MeToo movement began. But for former American actress Rose McGowan, it will not be over until “he's dead – or I am.”

One of the leading activists of the #MeToo movement, Rose McGowan had also accused Weinstein of sexually assaulting her in the 1990s. Following his conviction, she shared with The Guardian that her battle for justice against the producer has been “very calculated”, which will only be over when either “he's dead – or I am.”

Rose McGowan also shared that she refused to ever have children as she had to “keep on fighting” against Harvey Weinstein and wouldn't have been able to “take down” the mogul if she had to be mindful of others depending on her.

“If I had had a child, I couldn't have taken Harvey Weinstein down, said Rose, 'So I had to forego that so I could keep on fighting. I had to basically have no dependants. It's been very calculated. I probably am not going to be free of him until he's dead or I'm dead.”

For McGowan, Weinstein being convicted was like “500,000lb lifted off her shoulders” as before that it felt like her “cells were dissolving” because of her constant “high anxiety level.” And now that the big moment is here, she hopes that it would lead to more predators being convicted.

McGowan said: “This is a huge victory for all of us who have ever been affected by Harvey Weinstein. This affects so many. It's a huge moment. I thought he was going to exonerated.”

“I never really had hope you see. I realized the last time I had hope was the moment before I was raped by him and after that it became survival,” she added. “I didn't have hope but not because of the jury, I'm very grateful to that jury for getting further than most jury's get in rape cases. I was worried, it's hard to speak publicly about it without getting sued. But it's an extraordinary moment and it's a watershed moment.”
