Russia’s invasion of Ukraine continues since the crisis started in February and the war continues. It has had its effects on the world and there is no telling how long it will last.

From afar, it appears Russian President Vladimir Putin has the upper hand on paper. Although it appears that things are going in their favor, some miscalculations when they launched the Ukraine invasion may be telling.

One thing that was not considered is the weather. With spring coming up, this appears to be a miscalculation. The change in weather may factor in heavily as to how Russia can carry out its invasion, one of which their troops being slowed down with roads drenched in mud, News.com.au reported.

This is not the first time something like this has happened - Hitler and Napoleon's armies were left in similar predicaments in previous military campaigns, the Daily Star reported.

"Early spring is a bad time to invade Ukraine if the main roads have been destroyed, a task well within Ukraine’s irregular warfare toolkit," US National Defense University Professor Spencer Meredith stated.

While this may seem like a minor setback, the fact is that heavy vehicles may find it hard to get through. They will be limited to main roads, something that makes them vulnerable to attacks, an analyst claims.

"There were already numerous episodes when Russian tanks and other equipment drove into the fields and got stuck,” Ukrainian military analyst Mykola Beleskov stated. "The situation will worsen as the weather warms up and the rains start, it’ll just chain them to the ground,” he added.

Hence, the plans of Putin may not be going smoothly as planned. Add the fact that other countries are sending aid to Ukraine, Russia may have miscalculated this external issue which could be detrimental to their original plans.

"Russia is suffering, Russia is an isolated power. It is less powerful than it was ten days ago. Some of the lead elements of Russian forces have been decimated by the Ukrainian response," Chief of the Defense Staff Admiral Sir Tony Radakin stated.
