It seems that a possible release date or at least a time frame for the highly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S5 has been revealed by the company’s Mobile VP Lee Young-hee. In a Bloomberg News interview published Thursday Young-hee outlined general plans and possibly spilled details about features for the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone as well as the next iteration of the Samsung Galaxy Note phone/tablet (phablet) and the new installment of the Galaxy Gear smartwatch.

Speaking about the new Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Gear Young-hee said the company is focusing on following the trend they have been going since the release of the device. "We've been announcing our first flagship model in the first half of each year, around March and April, and we are still targeting for release around that time. When we release our S5 device, you can also expect a Gear successor with more advanced functions, and the bulky design will also be improved."

However this semi-confirmed release date by Young-hee contradicts the release date said by other Samsung executives. Dong-hoon Chang, Samsung Electronics Vice President of Design Team, had apparently said that talk of a Galaxy S5 launch around MWC 2014 was "about right" according to gadgets.ndtv.com, so it is likely we could see a February unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and new iteration of the Galaxy Gear in February at MWC and a release March maybe April.

In the account of the iris-scanning feature Young-hee said, "Many people are fanatical about iris recognition technology." He also mentioned the company was considering the inclusion of iris-scanning technology in the Galaxy S5, to take on Apple's latest feature the, Touch ID fingerprint-scanning biometric authentication feature, launched with the iPhone 5s. Young-hee also added, "For the S5, we will go back to the basics. Mostly, it's about the display and the feel of the cover."
