The death of Los Angeles Clippers' owner Donald Sterling's son has been ruled a drug-related accident according to reports from the Associated Press.

The 32-year-old Scott Ashley Sterling was found dead in his apartment in Malibu on New Year's Day.

As Yahoo Sports reports, Assistant Chief Investigator Ed Winter said it appeared that Sterling injected narcotics into his veins, resulting in a pulmonary embolism.

While it was unknown what specific drugs Sterling used, the Coroner's office reported that the drug Oxycodone was also found in Scott Sterling's system. Those drugs coupled with the fact that Sterling was diabetic were huge factors in his death.

The initial autopsy of Scott Sterling was performed on Jan. 3 and it is also reported by Yahoo Sports that the coroner expects to have a final report released within two weeks.

Scott Sterling had the ability to "make you feel like he was so happy to see you," according to interviews done with friends of Sterling by the Malibu Times. Sterling was also known for visiting friends at a nearby sober house in Malibu and was never one to use his name to gain an advantage.

Sterling's father Donald began his ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers in 1981. Currently the longest-tenured owner in the NBA, Donald Sterling's Clippers have advanced to the postseason six times since he took over in the early part of the 1980's including making playoff appearances in each of the last two seasons.

The 2011-2012 Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Memphis Grizzlies in the First Round of the playoffs before being swept by the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Semifinals.

This year's squad currently holds a 2-0 lead on the Memphis Grizzlies in the First Round of the 2012-2013 NBA Playoffs. The Clippers have never advanced past the Conference semifinal round.
