The petition came true and Selena Quintanilla now has her own wax figure at Madame Tussauds! The wax museum had announced in mid-July that it would unveil the Queen of Tejano Music’s statue on Tuesday, August 30 at their Hollywood, California location after her fan’s online petition from 2015 gathered over 10,000 signatures and caught their attention.

"At Madame Tussauds, our figures represent icons who have made a significant impact on our culture,” said Colin Thomas , General Manager of Madame Tussauds Hollywood. “That perfectly describes Selena. Her influence has transcended generations, and her passionate fans continue to be inspired by her to this day. We recognize this and in response, we are proud to join her fans in celebrating her legacy by immortalizing her," he added.

The unveiling came on the 21st anniversary of the release of Selena’s last studio album, “Dreaming of You.” Both of Selena’s siblings, Suzette and AB Quintanilla were there along with her parents, Abraham and Marcela, and her widower, Chris Perez. "On behalf of our family, we would like to express a huge amount of gratitude to Madame Tussauds in creating such an amazing lifelike wax figure of our beloved Selena,” Suzette said. “This is yet another step in making sure that her legacy lives on and that her fans new and old can appreciate her as a person, an artist and one whom we can all identify with.”

It is estimated that the cost of the wax figure was around $350,000. Selena is dressed in an outfit she used to perform at the Memorial Coliseum in Corpus Christi back in February 1993. The show was recorded and later released as an album with the name “Selena Live!” which earned her her first Grammy award f or Best Mexican/American Album in 1994.

"She inspired a lot of people and it seems to move from one generation to the next so it's constantly moving forward and thanks to the fans that help perpetuate her, her legacy, her memory, her music and those kinds of things forward — I think it's just an amazing thing what they've done," her widower Chris Perez said.
