A 35-year-old man who is reportedly one of the sickest people at a ward over at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital turns out to be a wanted felon.
The man, identifies as Nicholas Rossi, reportedly fled to Scotland after allegedly raping a 21-year-old woman in 2008.
According to Leading Britain’s Conversation, Rossi moved to Scotland and used a different name, Arthur Knight.
Rossi was arrested by Scottish police while he was battling COVID pneumonitis at the hospital in Glasgow.
It was added that the International Crime Police Organization (Interpol) tipped Scotland police after photos of Rossi and his tattoos were circulated. Medical workers were immediately able to recognize the 35-year-old from the photos and this led to his arrest.
It was also added that Rossi admitted to LBC that he was indeed Knight. He claims working as a tutor and Irish orphan and the he had never visited the United States.
Rossi also denied the sexual assault claims hurled against him and alleged the US prosecutor were trying to frame him and placing him in a coma.
Regardless, Sheriff Norman McFadyen, an Edinburgh judge, said that the claims of Rossi were implausible and fanciful, BBC reported.
"I am ultimately satisfied on the balance of probabilities... that Mr Knight is indeed Nicholas Rossi, the person sought for extradition by the United States," McFayden said.
He also added that the claims of Rossi were highly suspicious and were consistent on someone who was hiding from someone or something.
The 35-year-old has had six lawyers throughout his legal battle although it still remained unclear who was actually representing him and could speak on his behalf.
Rossi is facing at least two sexual assault allegations. He was first convicted of sexually assaulting a woman named Mary in 2008 after they met online.
Rossi's extradition hearing is set to start in March 2023. He was denied bail with McFayden categorizing him as a flight risk.
