Former White House adviser Steve Bannon predicted on Wednesday that the vast majority of the MAGA movement will end up backing President Donald Trump if he decides to join Israel in its war against Iran.
Speaking to reporters at a Christian Science Monitor event, Bannon said that if "Trump decides there's not a diplomatic alternative," he will "come and walk people through it." After that, the "vast majority of the MAGA movement will say 'look, we trust your judgement, you walked us through this... maybe we hate it but we'll get on board."
Bannon is among the Trump loyalists who holds more isolationist views, opposing involvement in foreign conflicts. He said that others who are in his camp and have been critical of the developments will ultimately fall in line.
"The MAGA movement, the Marjorie Taylor Greenes, the Matt Gaetzes, we will fight it up to the end and make sure you get full information but if he has more intelligence and makes that case to the American people, the MAGA movement will support President Trump," Bannon said.
On Tuesday, Rep. Taylor Greene slammed Republican-leaning outlets Fox News and New York Post, calling them "propaganda news" as she criticized support for potential U.S. involvement in the war.
Speaking to Matt Gaetz on OAN, Greene said the two publications are "known to be the neocon network news," referencing the concept used by some to describe those prone to have the U.S. actively involved in global conflicts.
"We have propaganda news on our side just as the left does. The American people have been brainwashed into believing that America has to engage in these foreign wars in order for us to survive and it's absolutely not true," Greene added.
Trump has not confirmed whether the U.S. will get actively involved in the conflict, but the country has deployed several assets to the region. Asked on Wednesday if he had a message for Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei after he said the country would not surrender amid ongoing Israeli attacks, Trump said "I say good luck."
Khamenei warned against U.S. strikes on Wednesday, saying President Donald Trump's call for "unconditional surrender" was "threatening and ridiculous." "Any U.S. military intervention will undoubtedly cause irreparable damage," added Khamenei, claiming that Israel had made a "huge mistake" by attacking and would be punished.
