With the “Stranger Things” Season 3 release date arriving in more than a month, fans are definitely thrilled as to what Netflix’s hit science fiction horror series’ third season could bring. To give audiences something to chew on during the waiting period, here are some of the interesting things known so far.

The almost two-year waiting period between seasons might be a long wait, but the show’s producer and creators say it will be worth it. “[Creators] The Duffer Brothers and [producer] Shawn Levy, they understand the stakes are high,” Netflix’s Cindy Holland, VP for original programming, said. “They want to deliver something bigger and better than last year. I think it’s going to be a fantastic season. It will be worth the wait.”

And previous “Stranger Things” Season 3 spoilers might have already revealed just how the show could be made even bigger and better. “We're [going to be] dealing with forces of evil that are new,” Levy previously hinted the arrival of new villains to spice up things a bit.

Hawkins, Indiana, the fictional town in the series, will likewise get an upgrade with the opening of a new mall. The mall will prove central to the plot as it is where Robin, a mall employee manning the ice cream station, will uncover some dark secrets. This is further confirmed in a released trailer showing a fearsome monster appearing in what appears to be the mall’s offices.

Robin might not ring a bell to some “Stranger Things” fans because she is actually a new character that will be introduced in Season 3. She will be played by Maya Thurman-Hawke, the daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke.

Fans can look forward to seeing a lot of familiar faces in the third season as well since most of the actors in the second season will be reprising their respective roles. Thus, Joe Keery is back as Steve, and Millie Bobby Brown will still portray Eleven and Finn Wolfhard as Mike. The other actors who are coming back include Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Winona Ryder (Joyce), Noah Schnapp (Will), Sadie Sink (Max), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan), Natalia Dyer (Nancy) and Dacre Montgomery (Billy).

Thankfully, fans don’t have to wait for long to see their favorite characters once more. Netflix already announced the release date of “Stranger Things” Season 3, which returns to the streaming giant on July 4.
