Ted Cruz Refuses to Denounce Israel for 'Spying' on Americans: 'Every One of Our Friends Spy on Us'

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz slammed right-wing commentator Tucker Carlson while discussing the rise of antisemitism in the conservative world, calling him the "most dangerous demagogue in this country."

Speaking during an event organized by the Republican Jewish Coalition and the National Review, Cruz said efforts to fight antisemitism are not being successful. "I want us to be winning, but I'm not sure it is accurate as a descriptive manner that we are winning right now," he said.

The senator went on to claim that not enough colleagues and allies are aware of the situation, which could have catastrophic consequences for Jewish and pro-Israel people.

"I don't want to wake up in five years and find myself in a country where both major political parties are unambiguously anti-Israel and unapologetically antisemitic, and I think that is a real possibility. If Tucker and his minions prevail, that will happen," Cruz said.

The lawmaker has been clashing with Carlson over the past months as divisions within the MAGA world deepen over different issues, particularly Middle East politics.

The two has a high-profile fight last year after Carlson published a clip in which he grilled the Republican senator about Iran data. In a series of social media posts, Cruz reacted to the clip, in which Carlson questions Cruz on the population of Iran and its ethnic composition, reacting with outrage after the senator didn't know the answer.

After the clip went viral, Cruz also reacted on social media, saying that Carlson "released a snippet playing a 'gotcha' on the population of Iran." "I declined to play that silly game. WATCH the full 2-hr interview, where Tucker ATTACKS Trump, attacks the 'AIPAC lobby,' & falsely claims Iran is not trying to assassinate Trump," he added.

Trump has also slammed Carlson, recently saying he has "lost his way." Speaking to ABC News journalist Jonathan Karl, Trump was asked about Carlson calling the attacks "absolutely disgusting and evil."

"I knew that a long time ago, and he's not MAGA. MAGA is saving our country. MAGA is making our country great again. MAGA is America first, and Tucker is none of those things. And Tucker is really not smart enough to understand that," Trump said.
