A teen in Japan stole his father's Platinum American Express credit card and racked up a $54K bar tab. The wild spending spree occurred back in 2012 when the teen was only 16-years-old.

The teen and his lucky friend spent an astonishing $ 54,000 which equates to ¥ 5.5 million. The two underage teens racked up the exorbitant bill by purchasing expensive alcohol, and by paying entrance fees to nightclubs in Kyoto, Japan. They enjoyed their night surrounded by beautiful women, drinking whisky and sparkling wine, with some bottles costing up to $3,700 (¥ 380,000).

More ridiculous then the initial reports of the teen's wild spending, is the latest update in the 2012 case. A judge has now ruled that the teen is in no way responsible for his luxurious night of wild partying, drinking, and female entertainment.

The judge has blamed American Express due to their apparent lapse of security due to the credit card being stolen by the son, in addition the judge placed blame on the nightclubs which continued to provide him expensive services and serve him alcohol despite his young age.

According to Japan Daily, "Presiding Judge Hashidume said that American Express bore partial responsibility for the charges since they didn't do anything about so many large and clearly suspicious charges. He also pointed out that American Express clearly hadn't properly verified the identity of the card holder. Additionally, since the kid was only 16 years old, he obviously couldn't enter into a legally-binding contract, let alone enter and drink at such adult establishments."

The incredibly lucky teen will not have to pay back any of his partying fees, and his father, will only be responsible for paying ¥ 800,000 of his American Express bill, which is less than 15% of his son's total expenses incurred.

Additionally due to Judge Hashidume's ruling, American Express will be held responsible to cover the rest of the bar tab. The Kyoto District Court also reprimanded the bar and club owners which were involved in the teen's wild night of spending for allowing a 16-year-old to drink and party as he did.
