Cuban actor Pedro Moreno, best known for his roles in popular telenovelas like "El rostro de Analía," "Una familia con suerte," and "Me declaro culpable," was arrested early Thursday, May 15, in southwest Miami-Dade County, Florida. The 44-year-old soap opera star is facing serious charges, including robbery with violence, in a case linked to alleged domestic violence.
According to Miami-Dade court records, Moreno was taken into custody around 4:00 a.m. and remains behind bars at the Turner Guilford Knight. As of this writing, his bond has not been set.
The alleged incident took place late on May 14 at the residence Moreno still shares with his wife, despite being in the process of divorce. An argument reportedly broke out over the state of their relationship and suspicions of infidelity. According to the police report, the victim allowed Moreno to use her cellphone, but he allegedly began checking its contents without her consent, escalating the confrontation.

The situation escalated when, upon being asked to return the cell phone, Moreno refused and forcefully snatched the device away, in what police described as a struggle over possession of the device, valued at approximately $250. The couple's oldest daughter witnessed the incident and used her phone to call authorities. Moments later, Moreno returned the cell phone to his wife.
Pedro Moreno has been married to Bárbara Estévez since 2008. The couple has three children: Pedro, Alexandra, and Christian Leo. In 2014, they announced the birth of their third child, Christian Leo, at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. In addition, in 2015, Pedro Moreno legally adopted his stepdaughter Alexandra, whom he has raised as his own since she was a child.
Although the victim was not injured, the fact that it occurred in the direct presence of the couple's daughter could aggravate the legal implications, as this is a case of domestic violence involving minors. Moreno appeared in bail court this Thursday, where the judge has not yet determined the amount to be released on bail.
