Mexican singer and actress, Thalía, joined UNICEF in an initiative set in motion by numerous artists, celebrities and athletes, called “Imagine” in honor of The Beatles song, which looks to defend and promote children’s rights. Personalities have to sing the popular song, upload it and donate to the international organization. “I’m so happy to be able to join this initiative by UNICEF with a legendary song that has inspired generations of people through the universal language of music,” said the singer in a statement. “I hope my participation brings my country and the entire world, the need to look for peace and wellbeing for everyone, especially for children who are always the most vulnerable” she added.

Thalía joins Katy Perry and athletes Pau Gasol and Neymar, who have performed their song in cities like New York, Rio de Janeiro and London among others, in this initiative which is looking to bring problems like violence, poverty and climate change to an end, so children can reach their full potential. The “Imagine” initiative is also looking to shed light on these problems, to catch the attention of world leaders and place issues like these at the front of this year’s agenda.

Hundreds of people have also uploaded their own versions through the app and donated to the cause.
