New Year’s Eve is happening in a few hours and many people may have chosen to spend the festivity in New York City. The region is actually a popular spot for New Year because it offers a lot of things to do for the celebration. From the countdown to parties to the uncommon ways of welcoming the new year, below are 10 ways to celebrate in the Big Apple.

The Ball Drop in Times Square

This is the first in the list and probably the most popular thing to do on New Year’s Eve in New York. thousands of people come to Times Square for the countdown to midnight on Dec. 31. When the clock strikes 12, people watch the ball drop to signify the New Year.

Harbor Cruise in the New Year

New York offers many cruise experiences for visitors and on New Year’s Eve, the New York Harbor is open for people who want to welcome the new year aboard a yacht and in formal attire. Friends and families can enjoy dining and drinking while sailing on the night of Dec. 31.

Watch the Fireworks

The state has many places where fireworks are launch on display for the New Year. One that everyone can pick is the annual New Year’s Eve fireworks at the Prospect Park in Brooklyn and live entertainment is available before midnight, as per New York Post. The fireworks display in Central Park is another option.

New Year Run

This is an unusual way to welcome New Year but NYC has its annual New York Road Runners Midnight Run event. There is a fee and participants can enjoy the fireworks and sparkling cider being handed out at the halfway point.

New Year’s Eve Concert or Show

There are performance venues throughout the city where people can enjoy a night of live shows on New Year's Eve. Some places to check out are Lincoln Center and other music halls along the Lower East Side.

Bike Ride on New Year’s Eve

This is another unique thing to do to welcome 2020. In New York, there is the annual “ New Year’s Eve Ride ” and participants ride their bikes starting at Washington Square Park or Belvedere Castle in Central Park. For those who are late, they can meet the other bikers at Madison Square.

Party at the Boardwalk

In Coney Island, they hold a New Year’s at the iconic Parachute Jump. There will also be spectacular fireworks that will light up the boardwalk and people can take a walk.

Celebrate at Johnny Utah’s

Another thing to do in New York on New Year’s Eve is to join the diners at the Western-themed bar called Johnny Utah. There is a large screen that will live stream the ball drop in Times Square and the party will go on until the wee hours.
