Democratic governors openly challenged Trump's border czar Tom Homan, daring him to arrest them as they defended state policies that oppose mass deportation.

Analysts fear the quota could incentivize officers to target individuals who are easier to detain rather than focusing on those who pose security risks

The idea has drawn criticism for not only encouraging racial profiling and fostering mistrust but for being an inefficient use of ICE's limited resources

"We're going to show the American people we know how to do this, and we're going to do it the right way," said Tom Homan during an interview with Fox

Tom Homan had anticipated plans to increase workplace raids once in office, causing anxiety in several industries dependent on such workers

The president-elect is reportedly planning to remove a policy that stops agents from arresting undocumented individuals from sensitive places such as churches and schools

Homan said he will need a minimum of 100,000 beds to detain undocumented immigrants – more than doubling the 40,000 detention beds ICE is currently funded for
