A Republican strategist suggested that, for the first time, President Donald Trump may have been "out-crazied" as his feud with Elon Musk continues.
On Thursday, Musk lashed out at Trump, accusing him of ties to Jeffrey Epstein, calling for his impeachment, and insisting that Trump wouldn't have won the 2024 election without his help. Trump declined to address Musk's claims during a roundtable event but told reporters on Friday that he's not "particularly interested" in reconciling with the tech billionaire. He went on to say that Musk had "lost his mind."
"This is a massive crack in the MAGA coalition," Matthew Bartlett, a Republican strategist and former Trump administration appointee, told Politico.
"This town is historically built on Republican versus Democrat, and this seems to be crazy versus crazy," he continued. "It is asymmetric and it seems, for the first time, President Trump seems to be out-crazied."
Before Thursday's blowup, Musk issued a warning to Republicans backing Trump's "Big, Beautiful Bill," the legislation at the heart of the feud between the world's richest man and the world's most powerful.
"In November next year, we fire all politicians who betrayed the American people," Musk wrote in an X post shared Wednesday.

Musk poured nearly $300 million into the 2024 election, boosting Trump and other Republican campaigns, making him the cycle's largest donor.
While many Republicans are scrambling to assess the potential electoral fallout, beginning with next year's midterms, some have already begun preparing for a campaign season without the billionaire's massive financial backing. Several figures, according to reporting by Politico, were planning to run in the upcoming cycle without counting on Musk's support.
