The once-formidable alliance between Donald Trump and tech magnate Elon Musk has unraveled in a dramatic public feud over Trump's signature legislative initiative, the "One Big Beautiful Bill," with the President raging against him on Truth Social.
The rift between Musk, the administration and Congress was growing in the public eye, but it was Trump's social media posts today, June 5, that confirmed that the relationship was not only over but ended on very bad terms.
"The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon's Governmental Subsidies and Contracts. I was always surprised that Biden didn't do it!"
Elon was "wearing thin," I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted (that he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!"

Musk had raged against the removal of the EV mandate on social media, claiming he had not been privy to the bill's contents prior to its passage and accusing Trump of ingratitude, stating, "Without me, Trump would have lost the election."
The billionaire CEO of Tesla and SpaceX was a pivotal figure in Trump's 2024 re-election campaign. His substantial financial contributions, totaling over $290 million, and his role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) positioned him as a key player in shaping the administration's fiscal policies. Musk's involvement was seen as a strategic move to streamline government operations and reduce federal spending.
The 'Big Beautiful Bill' Sparks Discord
The alliance began to fracture with the introduction of the "One Big Beautiful Bill," a comprehensive tax and spending package aimed at extending tax cuts and increasing funding for infrastructure and defense. While the bill aligned with Trump's agenda, it included provisions that phased out electric vehicle (EV) tax credits, a move that directly impacted Musk's
Musk publicly denounced the bill, labeling it a "disgusting abomination" and criticizing its potential to inflate the national deficit by $2.5 trillion. He argued that the legislation favored traditional energy sectors by maintaining oil and gas subsidies while undermining the EV industry.

Political and Market Repercussions
The fallout has reverberated beyond political circles. Tesla's stock experienced a significant drop, falling over 8% amid thecontroversy.. Investors expressed concern over the company's future in light of the reduced government support for EVs and the public discord between its CEO and the President.
Within the Republican Party, the rift has caused unease. Some GOP strategists fear that Musk's vocal criticism could sway public opinion against the bill, jeopardizing its passage and the party's legislative agenda
