U.S. President Donald Trump’s crude, sexist and racist comments are nothing new for Americans. However, such instances have only started to appear more prominently as the date for the upcoming Presidential elections is getting closer.

But as the election day is getting closer, the question has become whether Americans do care about Trump’s character rather than whether they know about his character. Considering that the POTUS continues to make inappropriate comments about veterans and generals as well as ones with the hint of racism in it.

All of it seems to continue even as he tries to convince White Americans that he is not racist and as he claims to possess the most respect for the military.

Americans have a choice to make between Trump and his Democratic opponent Joe Biden. However, it is yet to be seen whether they will choose to care about his character or not this time around. Last time in 2016 when Trump’s derogatory remarks about molesting women surfaced just before the presidential elections, the people of America chose to ignore his character and he won.

Trump’s character and his comments have been the central argument in Biden’s presidential campaign. He has even emphasized that he wouldn’t be standing as a Democratic candidate in the presidential elections if his opponent was a traditional Republican but unfortunately, it is Trump, someone who lacks moral authority as per him.

Even the Republicans acknowledge that American voters will make a decision based on the character of the candidate and that is the reason why the Republican convention has been overloaded with personal testimonies – which attempted to minimize suggestions that Trump is racist, sexist or uncaring.

However, that does not seem to have made much of an effect. Views concerning Trump’s character have further hardened after explosive comments revealed a few days ago in The Atlantic, where he called the Americans who lost their lives in war “losers” and “suckers.”

The comments were allegedly made as he canceled a visit to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near Paris in 2018. At the time, he blamed rain and said that “the helicopter couldn’t fly.”

However, people with firsthand knowledge of the discussion that took place that day revealed that Trump was more worried about his hair would become “disheveled” because of the rain and also because he did not consider it important to honor American soldiers who lost their lives to war.
