SEATTLE - In another memorable night in the UEFA Champions League, Borussia Dortmund spoiled the dreams of thousands of Paris Saint-Germain fans securing a 2-0 aggregate win that sees PSG exit the competition in the semifinals.

In what could possibly be Kylian Mbappé's last European game for the club, PSG wasn't able to crack Dortmund's defensive lock. In 180 minutes, PSG was unable to score a single goal, hitting the woodwork four different times in the second leg.

Overall, the French side hit the woodwork 12 times this Champions League season (six against Dortmund), the highest by any team in a single edition since they started to be tracked in 2003-04.

If it is indeed the end of Mbappé's time in Paris, he leaves the club as PSG's top scorer in the competition with 42 goals.

In seven seasons at PSG, Mbappé reached the Champions League final only once (2019-20), being eliminated in the Round of 16 four times and the remaining two in the semifinals.

According to Opta, PSG has the highest ratio of defeats (83%) in UCL semifinals by teams with at least five games played in this instance (lost six of its seven games).

Dortmund, on its end, advanced to its first Champions League final in over 10 years and will face the winner of Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich, who will play on Wednesday. The last time Dortmund made the UCL final (2012-13), they faced the German team at Wembley Stadium (this year's venue as well).

The "Black and Yellow" will play in their third-ever UEFA Champions League final, the second-most by a German team only behind Bayern Munich's 11 appearances. In 1997, Dortmund became the third German team to win the European Cup, joining Bayern and Hamburger SV.
