The old saying is “sex sells,” but now it seems like Samsung has a better idea that “soccer sells” or at least the technology giant is hoping. More specifically Samsung is hoping that the international sport, Football or Soccer will gain consumers attention. A new marketing campaign for Samsung’s forthcoming smartphone the “Galaxy S5” is one of the biggest and most star studded we have seen, or should we soccer studded. The new 4-minute long commercial entitled, “#GALAXY 11: The Training,” features 13 international soccer players and stars, who are training in an unknown, technologically advanced facility in their quest to save the world.

The video campaign is apart of an extensive online series, which centers around the premise of a team in training, composed of the world’s best athletes on a life or death mission to save the planet from an impeding alien force. The challenges proposed by the aliens are overcome by their use of their athletic skills in addition to using their technologically advanced “Galaxy S5” smartphones. "We built a dream team with some of the best players in the world that have joined Galaxy 11 to give life to this story through multiple channels and Samsung Galaxy devices" says Yonghee Lee, executive vice president of marketing Global IT and Telecom Division at Samsung Electronics.

The most recent video “Training” is preceded by a similar video entitled “The Beginning” whish focuses on the team selection. The next video in the “#GALAXY 11” campaign will feature the building epic battle between the intergalactic aliens, and of course the 13 member team of heroic, soccer players. The team members are, Lionel Messi of Argentina, who serves as the “#GALAXY 11” team captain, Mario Gotze of Germany, Radamel Falcao of Colombia, Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal, Oscar dos Santos of Brazil, Wu Lei of China, Stephan El Shaarawy of Italy, Victor Moses of Nigeria, Lee Chung-Yong of South Korea, Iker Casillas of Spain, Wayne Rooney of England, Landon Donovan of the United States and finally Aleksandr Kerzhakov of Russia.
