Qualifying results at COTA gave us a bit of a surprise as the #8 Toyota of Anthony Davidson, Sebastien Buemi and Nicolas Lapierre managed to capture pole once again. The team is currently in a strong position to extend its lead in the FIA World Endurance Championship lead. In fact, Buemi's fastest lap was 1:49.093, putting it more than a second clear of everyone else.

Next, Porsche managed to take second and third place on the starting grid. The pace of the Porsche have been consistent as Romain Dumas, Neel Jani, and Marc Lieb of the #14 Porsche 919 Hybrid managed to get a slight edge over the #20 of Mark Webber, Brendon Hartley, and Timo Bernhard.

Surprisingly, Audi's early pace during free practice could not translate into strong qualifying results as both Audi R18 hybrids suffered technical issues that never let the team seriously challenge for the top spot on the grid. The #2 Audi of Andre Lotterer, Benoit Treluyer, and Marcel Fassler qualified fourth, while the sister #1 car will start the race back in sixth, just behind the #7 Toyota.

Be sure to watch the COTA 6 Hours race at the Texas Circuit Of The Americas on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 5:00 p.m. ET. Catch all the action via the live stream video below:
