Cara Delevingne and Kendall Jenner are close friends but this was not the case at first. Both models, Delevingne revealed that she was at first careful about making friends, and she and Jenner took a while to hit it off.

Apart from current girlfriend Ashley Benson making her happy these days, Delevingne revealed that she has really some good friends making her feel blessed too, including Kendall Jenner. In an interview with Elle UK however, she shared that she and Jenner did not become fast friends despite being in the same modeling industry.

In general, this could not be Jenner’s fault. Delevingne was really cautious about making friends in the industry. “Honestly, I had low expectations for friends in this industry because: a) I didn’t think people would want to be my friend, and b) I didn’t know if making friends through this process would be fickle or seem not real,” she shared.

She then said that she and Jourdan and Karlie Kloss became friends quickly but Jenner was a different story altogether. They already worked on several stints together but they just did not pay each other heed for quite a while. “I didn’t meet Kendall until I had been modeling for a bit. We had done a few shows together and didn’t say a word to each other,” she said.

However, fate would show her that Jenner is a great person she can feel safe to be friends with. “Eventually, we started talking and I was like, ‘Oh, you’re alright. We should hang out after this.’ She was like, ‘Alright, cool.’ It was very easy. I found that you automatically know if someone is trying to make an effort that isn’t real, and when a friendship seems contrived,” Delevingne explained.

She and Kendall Jenner actually have this in common - viewing friendships as sacred. It can be remembered that Jenner once revealed in her Vogue interview that she perceives her relationships, especially friendships as “sacred.” As such, she does not like them being publicized.

“For me, a lot of things are very special and very sacred, like my friends and relationships, and I personally think that bringing things into the public makes everything so much messier,” Jenner said.
