Prince Harry once resented Prince Charles for making him look bad. Back in 2002, the Duke of Sussex visited a rehab facility, and Prince Charles was credited for it.

Royal author Penny Junor claimed in her biography “The Duchess” that Prince Harry became furious with the future king amid his underage drinking and smoking scandals. Shortly after these incidents, it was reported that Prince Charles stepped in and encouraged Prince Harry to visit a drug rehabilitation center in South London.

But Junor said that the reports about Prince Harry’s alleged rehab trip were fabricated by Prince Charles’ office to make the dad of two look good. Prince Harry visited a rehab center once, but he was not with his father. And it was not also because Prince Charles was worried about him.

“Charles had no idea what either of his sons got up to, and Harry bitterly resented being made to look bad so his father could look good,” Junor said. “Worse, he was furious that the blame for leading him astray should have fallen on Guy Pelly, a good friend of both princes, whose reputation was trashed,” she added.

According to royal author Katie Nicholl, Prince Harry’s underage drinking scandal caused his first major rift with his older brother, Prince William. In the book “William And Harry,” Nicholl said that Prince Harry resented the fact that he was blamed for everything but Prince William got away scot-free.

Nicholl said that it was common knowledge that the Duke of Cambridge has hardly been a model of decorum because he also had his fair share of antics. A former royal aide said that Prince William also felt guilty that Prince Harry had taken all the blame and he had come out as “Mr. Goody Two Shoes.”

“In the end, he forgave William because it wasn’t really William’s fault, but it took time,” Nicholl said. “Harry was reeling for a while,” she added.
