The wife of billionaire Pornhub's parent company owner, Bernd Bergmair, has urged her husband to sever ties with the sex video platform after allegations of child abuse surface on the web.

In an interview with the Sunday Times, Priscila Bergmair said her husband, MindGeek's majority owner, "wishes he was not in this" and expressed her "hope" that he would distance himself from the adult website.

Pornhub has been in the spotlight of human rights activists after the company failed to remove "child abuse," "rape videos," and "revenge porn."

A federal class-action case was filed against MindGeek in February, claiming that the platform published numerous rape recordings of teen sex-trafficking victims.

According to the lawsuit, the corporation profited from the videos and failed to check the ages or permission of those portrayed.

Priscila told the Sunday Times, “Everyone wants the best to be done. Because people have children… We all want things to be right.”

Following a news piece alleging that MindGeek was making a fortune from abusive child material, the company has taken action against unverified users in 2020. After the crackdown, about 80 percent of Pornhub's videos were removed overnight.

Any videos not posted by "official content partners" will be removed from the site, according to the platform.

After a New York Times column alleged that videos of assaults on unconscious women were posted to the website, the portal went under scrutiny among moderators.

Earlier this year, Canadian lawmakers held a two-hour question-and-answer session with MindGeek executives, at which they demanded that the company turn over financial and tax documents in the wake of allegations of abusive material.

In addition, 700 activists for victims of sexual assault sent a petition to the US Congress this May, asking officials to conduct a federal probe into Pornhub and MindGeek.

According to the Sunday Times, the company, which is headquartered in Canada, is worth £1.2 billion. It also operates Pornhub, RedTube, and YouPorn, which get about 120 million daily visitors.
