A man in India filmed a video of his wife’s suicide while he egged her on to kill herself.

The shocking incident came to light on Tuesday, Sept.21 in the Nellore district of Vijayawada.

According to the police, the woman, identified as 31-year-old Kondamma from Atmakuru village, ended her life after her husband, 38-year-old Penchalaiah accused her of having an extra-marital affair.

Penchalaiah suspected Kondamma’s fidelity and frequently harassed her over the same.

On Tuesday night, the two engaged in a heated argument following which Kondamma decided to end her life.

She tied a saree to the ceiling fan and hanged herself in front of her husband and children.

Police said the man shot a video on his cellphone when his wife tried to kill herself. He reportedly did not make an attempt to stop her from hanging herself.

In the video obtained by the local media, the accused man can be seen asking his wife to go ahead with her decision to end her life saying he won’t stop her.

"I won’t stop you if you end your life. I’ll show this video to your brother," Penchalaiah is heard saying in the background in the video clip.

After the woman ended her life, the husband even shared the video with her parents, who were reportedly terrified to see their beloved daughter hanging herself to death.

The family immediately alerted the police and officers were dispatched to the scene.

Investigators found the woman unresponsive and hanging from the ceiling. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body was recovered and sent to a medical examiner’s office for an autopsy. The results were being awaited.

Based on the complaint filed by the victim’s family members, the husband was arrested on charges of abetment to suicide.

Police recovered the cellphone and the video as evidence.

Atmakur Sub-inspector Sivasankar told India Today, "The husband used to harass her (Kondamma), following which she took the extreme step. We have filed a case based on the report by her relatives. We will take legal action against those involved in this case."

According to the police, the couple was married for 13 years and has two children.

Investigators said while the woman attempted to hang herself she even hoped for a moment that her husband would stop her, as seen in the video, but instead, he kept abetting her and continued recording the video as she choked to death.

Following the incident, instead of trying to save her, the suspect sent the video to her parents, police said.
