A teenager who got a $500,000 Lamborghini on his 17th birthday from his dad could be facing manslaughter charges in an accident that claimed the life of a receptionist and aspiring lawyer. It appears the accident was a result of a race between the boy and another driver of an Audi resulting in the horrific accident.

The teen, identified as Brendan Kuri, crashed his Lamborghini in Beverly Hills a month ago. In the alleged race he had with an Audi, he ended up crashing into the vehicle of a woman named Monique Munoz on Feb. 17.

The impact of the crash was so severe that the 32-year-old woman had to be cut free from the wreckage. Munoz died at the scene.

Kuri had already been arrested but the charges he is facing remain up in the air. A reason for this is because of his age. The case is under review.

The Los Angeles Police Department has recommended negligent vehicular manslaughter charges against the teenager who has been in the hospital since the fatal crash. Munoz reportedly sustained a brain injury from the mishap and has been beyond remorseful and crying every day.

However, there are calls for Munoz to be arrested despite his age. Meaww reports that a petition calling for his arrest has already garnered over 5,000 signatures.

It was the suspect’s father, James Kuri, who gifted his son with the $500,000 vehicle on his 17th birthday last year. Said to be a serial entrepreneur and the head of a distribution company called FJ Holdings, the elder Kuri issued an apology on Instagram. He adds that he is open to extending any support that he can to help the victim’s family.

“Knowing that this will never do justice for the family of Monique Munoz, I want to apologize to the Munoz family for the tragic loss of their daughter… Still, I want to offer my support in any way you will allow me to,” Kuri’s post read.

However, it appears he may have to do more than that if he wants his son to be punished lightly. Calls of manslaughter charges remain although the LAPD continues to dig deeper into the incident. This includes verifying the drag race. Additionally, it appears the teenager also did not have a driver’s license – something that hardly comes as a surprise since he was only 17-years-old.
