Some people enjoy cycling, nature walks, organic food, and recycling. Others prefer the thrill of a 700-hp V12 engine shrieking behind their ears. Are these pleasures in life mutually exclusive? Lamborghini doesn't think so.

For 2013, Lamborghini will introduce multi-cylinder deactivation as well as engine start-stop technology for the mighty Aventador LP 700-4, helping to boost fuel efficiency without sacrificing power when demanded.

Thanks to the new system, the V12 is capable of shutting down 6 cylinders during cruising modes while engine start/stop allows the engine to conserve fuel during idle. Combined, the new 2013 model year Aventador is expected to attain 14.7 mpg, exactly 1 (one) mpg over the current model's 13.7. What's more, CO2 emissions are expected to drop from from 398g/km to 370g/km. The start-stop system features a capacitor rather than a battery for engine reignition, which equates to approximately 7 extra pounds in weight saving.

Other minor tweaks for the 2013 model year include a stiffer suspension setting, revised dampers for a more comfortable ride as well as mild interior revisions including a gauge cluster with larger numbers.

Be sure to check out the new Lamborghini Aventador debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show this September.
