From renderings to leaks, MINI has finally released the first set of official images of its latest Paceman two-door CUV, the seventh model in the lineup.

According to MINI, the Paceman is a strong candidate for up to seven variants, including a hardened John Cooper Works Paceman planned for a later date.

The standard Cooper Paceman will receive a 1.6 liter four-cylinder engine producing 119-bhp and 118 lb.-ft. of torque. The more sporting turbocharged Cooper S Paceman offers 181-bhp and 177 lb.-ft. of torque, enough for the Cooper S Paceman to accelerate from 0-to-60 mph in a respectable 7.5 seconds.

Diesel variants are likely a European market exclusive but its specs promise major success nontheless. The front-wheel-drive Cooper D Paceman produces 110-bhp and a hearty 199 lb.-ft. of torque. Naturally, the diesel engine promises superior fuel efficiency as well -- the Cooper D with a six-speed manual gearbox is rated for 64.2 mpg combined. An uprated Cooper SD Paceman will follow as well.

Finally, all Paceman models offer front-wheel-drive as standard as well as an optional all-wheel-drive.

MINI claims that the Paceman is more than just a 2-door Countryman. The Paceman's roofline is shaved 40mm lower while headroom is only reduced by 10 mm. Next, the Paceman is lower to the ground than the Countryman, allowing controlled yaw thanks to the better center of gravity.
