A 26-year-old woman who reportedly defaced the memorial of a slain Chicago Police Department officer was finally arrested after roughly six months.

The woman was identified as Anna Kochakian for allegedly tearing down the photo of Chicago PD officer Ella French days after she was murdered.

Kochakian allegedly tore down French’s photo, crumpled it and then threw it in a trash can on a Chicago “L” platform according to state police on Wednesday, Feb. 9.

The 26-year-old’s arrest was only made after several months after police secured a warrant for her arrest. Kochakian is facing a felony charge of defacement of a police memorial.

She was arrested around 10:00 a.m. at her home according to authorities. State police add that Kochakian was restrained with handcuffs that belonged to French’s partner, Office Carlos Yanez, who was badly wounded in the shooting, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

The 26-year-old is expected to appear before the court on Thursday, Feb. 10, for a bond hearing.

“The offender was arrested using the handcuffs of Officer Carlos Yanez Jr., her partner. This was a moment of justice for Ella, her family, the Chicago Police Department, and all those who knew and loved Ella.” Kochakian, who is charged with defacement of a police memorial, a Class 4 felony, is due back in court Thursday, February 10, for a bond hearing,” Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown tweeted.

It was on Aug. 7 when French was fatally shot and Yanez was critically wounded after the officers pulled over an SUV with expired plates at 63rd Street and Bell Avenue.

Two brothers were inside the vehicle at that time. They were Emonte and Eric Morgan. Both were charged with several felonies, including murder and attempted murder in the shooting.

It was reportedly the 21-year-old Monty Morgan who opened fire at French and Yanez at the time, fatally striking French. Eric Morgan was the one driving the vehicle.

A third officer fired back and hit Monty Morgan in the stomach. He was charged with first-degree murder of a peace officer and attempted murder. Eric faces firearms and obstruction charges.

Yanez survived two gunshot wounds to the head. According to the New York Post, his injuries could potentially leave him permanently disabled.
