It should be noted that although these restaurants are open on Christmas day, the time of opening and closing may change. They may reduce the hour operation so it would be better to check before heading out. It is also ideal to call the restaurant first since some branches may have opted not to open their store.

Last year, 16% of restaurants were open and the number has grown this year because more and more people prefer to dine out. Besides, everyone wants a hassle-free holiday where they can just relax and have a good time so dining out is on special occasions like Christmas is preferred these days.

“From the consumer standpoint, data from the National Restaurant Association shows us that people ages 18-24 and 65-plus are mostly likely to dine out at restaurants on Christmas Day," the Michigan Restaurant and Lodging Association stated in an email sent to the Free Press.

Finally, aside from the convenience, trends further show that most people choose to eat in restaurants for Christmas for socialization. When time is not enough and stress is high with all the Christmas activities, the restaurants surely provide the perfect service.
