Adele stunned her fans when she showed off a whole new look as she holidayed in the Caribbean on Friday. Photos of the chart-topping star donning a sexy dress and clutching a cocktail while taking a dip in the sea spread like wildfire online earlier this month, sparking a furious debate as to how she was able to achieve her incredibly slimmer frame in just a span of six months.

While many believe that the heartache brought by her divorce from ex-husband Simon Konecki was the catalyst for her significant weight loss, the truth is that Adele managed to lose weight through a combination of weight loss techniques—a complete overhaul in her diet and fitness regime. Here’s how Adele lost over 40 pounds in six months:

The Sirtfood Diet

This diet encourages people who want to lose weight to eat plant foods that are known to be sirtuin activators, which work in suppressing appetite and activating the skinny gene of the body. Sirtuin activators also protect cells from dying under stress and regulate inflammation, metabolism, and aging.

Reformer Pilates

Earlier this year, Adele took up reformer pilates with her good friend Avda Field. This workout regime helps improve posture, flexibility and balance and has apparently worked pretty well for the “Hello” singer.

High Intensity Workouts

Aside from her reformer pilates classes, Adele also regularly does high intensity workouts at home. She has been following Dalton Wong and Joe Wick’s workout videos since her split from Konecki, religiously training at home to get into shape.

No More Tea

In a desperate bid to cut down on her sugar intake, Adele also ditched tea as she promised to stay fit. In a previous interview, the singer revealed drinking at least 10 cups of this beverage a day for increased energy. After ditching it, however, she realized she could actually do without it. “No I don’t drink it and I have more energy than ever,” she said.

Weightlifting

While Adele isn’t a huge fan of the gym, she does lift weights. In a 2016 interview, she revealed that she doesn’t enjoy going to the gym for workouts but she admitted doing weights. “I do like doing weights,” she said. “I don’t like looking in the mirror.”

Being Happy

After all that she’s been through, Adele’s mantra has always been about focusing on the good things in life. While she has her own share of self-image problems, she doesn’t let them rule her life. “I think no matter what you look like, the key is to first of all be happy with yourself,” she said.
