Alexander Torres began his trajectory at 13 years old when he entered theater school in Puerto Rico and realized that acting was his calling. At 17, he starred in his first movie and at 24 moved to the U.S. to keep pursuing his acting career. He got his first taste of the telenovela biz after participating in intensive workshops oferred by Telemundo and nabbing a role in "Relaciones Peligrosas."

Now, at 28, Torres prepares for his biggest role to date, as Federico Bermudez in the upcoming UniMas novela "Ruta 35."

"Ruta 35 is the route that narcos take," Torres told Latin Times about the show's title. "In the series, you'll see narcos and informants. I'm stuck in the middle because my father (Miguel Rodarte) is a narco and my mother (Danna Garcia) is an informant for the DEA (U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration). There's a lot of emotions in this series, it's very intense," he added of Federico, his 18-year-old leading character.

While Torres' character wants to become a drug trafficker like his father, he assures that he's not in agreement with what his character does or his beliefs. However, he admitted that he enjoys doing "bad boy" roles for one reason: "I like taking on roles that have nothing to do with who I am as a person in real life," he said.

Though the Puerto Rican actor has piled up roles of "el chico malo" in novelas, Torres ---who resides in Miami, Fla.--- said he would one day like to star in a novela such as "Soñadoras." "I'd like to form part of an adolescent soap opera. Nowadays, they don't make novelas like that," he said of classics such as "Amigas Y Rivales," "Clase 406" and "Rebelde."

When he's not acting, Torres said he's into sports, karate and dancing. You can catch the Caribbean stud in the forthcoming series "Ruta 35," premiering in the fall on UniMas.
