Alfonso Cuaron's "Gravity" has become the most nominated film at the Visual Effects Society awards, with eight nominations announced today by the organization. Among the nods given to Cuaron's film are 'Outstanding Visual Effects,' 'Outstanding Cinematography,' as well as nominations in compostion, modeling, siumualtion, animaton and virtual cinematography. The ceremony will be held at a gala on the 12th of February, where Cuaron will be presented with the VES Visionary award for "Gravity."

Alfonso Cuaron is one of the hottest director's of this year's awards season, having just won the Golden Globe for Best Director. "Gravity" has been hailed as a revolutionary film for its outstanding visual effects. It's star, Sandra Bullock, had an animated body double for much of the film, while her face and its expressions were recorded live. The realistic space atmosphere created in the film was one of the most talked about sequences in any film this year.

Fellow Mexican Guillermo del Toro had the second most nominations for his film "Pacific Rim" with six. "Iron Man 3" and "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" were given five nods each. The TV shows nominated were "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," "Game of Thrones" and "The Borgias." In the category for outstanding supporting visual effects in a feature motion picture are "Rush," "The Great Gatsby," "The Lone Ranger," "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty," "The Wolf of Wall Street," and "White House Down."
