Many have argued that if it weren't for Porsche's flagship 911 sports car, the mid-engine Porsche Cayman could easily demonstrate performance potentials that far exceed its bigger brother.

Few have gone ahead to put the theory into practice, but impressive results are usually rewarded to those who dare. Alpha-N Performance, a small tuning company based in Germany, has just unveiled its new Porsche Cayman-based supercar, the Alpha One.

The new Apha-N Performance Alpha One boasts a peculiar carbon fiber body that combines an assortment of styling cues from different porsche models. While the Cayman's greenhouse remains intact, the front end sports a unique fascia featuring Porsche Panamera headlights. A wide body kit incorporates a Porsche "991" 911 rear end.

Substantial performance numbers are limited for now but Alpha-N Performance's image release claims that the Alpha One will weigh anywhere between 1080-1280 kg (2381 - 2821 lbs.). A range of engine upgrades allows the Alpha to offer an output starting as low as just 300 PS before going all the way up to 800 PS (from 296 to 789-hp).

Check out the two released Alpha One images for now. We suspect the Alpha One to make its official unveiling at the upcoming Paris Motor Show next month.
